Baking Gingerbread Men

The year is drawing to a close. This year, our helper went home for a holiday so we didn't get to bake any cookies for Christmas. Well, there are 12 days to Christmas and it is not too late. On the last day of the year, Gerald helped to bake a batch of nice, yummy gingerbread men, though we later switched to gingerbread pooh and tigger and mickey. =)

HK Holiday

Music Lessons

We have started Gerald on music lessons. So far it is just learning about the basics of music like notes, bar lines, beats and counts. He seems to enjoy the lessons and at least we know he is not tone deaf. =)Gearld: See I can play the piano! I know how to play the 2 black keys and 3 balck keys!

High Chair / Low Chair

We converted Gerald's high chair into a set of writing desk and chair for him. He is almost 4 now and has no need to sit on a high chair. Gareth is using the high chair as a climbing toy so we thought we will reduce the risk of him falling off by reducing the height of the chair. So now the high chair has become a low chair and a desk. Gareth still sits strapped in it for meals but maid has to sit on the floor to feed him. =P

We didn't remove the harness so Gareth is still using the chair for meals. Otherwise he will be crawling all over the place when Titin is trying to feed him.

Doing Homework

Everyday when Gerald gets home, I would ask him what he did in school. Invariably, he would answer, "I do colouring and homework." (he has no concept of tenses yet)

His concentration span has indeed improved after going to school for almost 9 months now. He can sit still better and complete a few pages of colouring before getting fidgety. Writing doesn't fare so well. He gets bored more quickly.

Visit to the Istana

The Istana was open on the 3rd of August for National Day and I brought Gerald and Gareth for a visit. The camera ran out of battery halfway through the visit so the pics are limited.

Gareth basically slept through the whole visit so no pictures of him this time. Will take him to the Istana again.

After a long walk, we finally reach the Istana building itself. After this photo, the battery ran out and the boys got too hot and cranky. So we went to Swensons at Plaza Sing for a meal of Fish and Chips.

Super busy at work lately... absolutely no time to update Gerald's blog. So I'm gonna update a summary of July for people who are interested in Gerald..hehehe.

Gerald had a haircut.

He got a new "cheena" suit for Racial Harmony Day... his 1st one. I foresee I'll be making a trip down to Chinatown every July to get one of these.

We brought Gerald cycling for the 1st time. He didn't really cycle but he enjoyed the ride.

And the little monkey had a great time on the horizontal flying fox!

Brought Gerald to Henderson Waves for a walk. It was quite empty and the weather was a bit sunny. Gerald was a bit cranky due to the sun but it was a nice walk.

In the evening, we went to take a ride on the Singapore Flyer. The weather was much cooler and it was a nice experience to see the Bay area from high up, but I think the Marina area will look better when the IR is ready. Now, you see a lot of construction sites and a lot of traffic.

They gave each kid a kiddy pack journal. Gerald tore his within minutes.

At the end of the ride, Gerald got a nice plush Monkey, which he named Charlie. He also named Gareth's plush pig Lola. Parents should know where these names come from. ;)

Haven't updated Gerald's blog for a while cos work has been crazy. Had a break from school on Friday to celebrate our good results so I took the chance to take the kids to the Jacob Ballas Children's Garden. Gerald had a really good time. Gareth had a great time too, but you'll have to check out the other blog. Seriously considering collapsing the 2 blogs into 1 soon. =)

I figured I should start training Gerald from young to do some housework. Afterall, I have 2 boys in the house and I'm determined that they will not expect women to wait on them hand and foot. They must learn to do their share of the work. Grin. ;)

End of term excursion

10 weeks have passed and Gerald has spent 10 weeks in school. It has been a rather smooth transition and there had been no tantrums though if you ask him if he wants to go to school or stay at home, he will choose "stay at home!".

The kinddy organised an excursion to the bird park on last week of term 1. I didn't get to go cos I was working but I managed to get a few photos of him early in the morning.

We dragged him for a haircut too. My little Gerald has grown up. From screaming his head off at his haircuts, he can now sit still and let the aunty cut his hair.

First weekend after starting school

Gerald has adapted quite well to school. Not much crying involved though he has not really gotten the idea of listening to his teachers yet. He will sometimes wander round the classroom and start opening cupboards to search for toys. Hope he will grow more mature, sociable and disciplined as the days go by. For now, he is enjoying himself at home. I think weekends will take on new meaning for him as from now, he can only play to his heart's content on weekends.

Eating a banana on his own. We're training him to eat on his own now as the teachers in kinddy don't have time to feed the children. Of course there is a huge mess at meal times but I guess it is a skill that he has to learn sooner or later.

First Day of School

2008 marks the year when Gerald starts his journey of education. He is enrolled in Nursery this year and I hope that he will adapt quickly and adapt well. We are sending him to school to help him learn to socialise with other children and to hopefully learn some discipline like sitting still and obeying instructions from the teachers. I am both excited and nervous about his first day though he doesn't seem to know what is going on.Gerald in his new uniform.

Gerald woke up nice and early on Christmas morn. He has been eyeing the presents for days and kept taking out the boxes under the tree and saying "open". Well, he could finally open his presents!

Today I taught Gerald how to use the computer. Never too early to start computer literacy, right? I taught him how to use the mouse and click on elements on an interactive website. After about 15 minutes, he got the hang of it. Now he can amuse himself in front of the computer and learn something instead of watching TV. Yippee!

We brought Gerald and Gareth all the way from Sengkang to Jurong West to check out the new swimming complex. The water play area for the kids is very good and Gerald enjoyed himself. Even Gareth got into the action.

Kindergarten Orientation

We brought Gerald to his kindergarten orientation today. He is enrolled in TWP and is scheduled to start school next year. The orientation was simply a talk by the Chaplain and Principal and paying fees and buying uniforms. Diapers are not allowed and we are now actively trying to bring Gerald everywhere without wearing diapers. He still needs to be reminded to go to the toilet and I wonder if he will tell the teacher he needs to "wee wee". Sometimes he just forgets. Hope he will grow up more when he starts school.

New Toy

Luke bought a PSP for himself but Gerald has been hogging it. He doesn't know how to play any games yet but he likes looking at the graphics of Pac-Man and spaceships moving across the screen. We have also converted some of his VCDs and DVDs into MP4 format so that he could watch them on long drives.

So now poor luke doesn't get to play with his PSP much as it is in the hands of his son most of the time. Look at Gerald, playing like a pro.

Another milestone

Gerald kind of crossed another milestone today, a day after he turned 3. He now understands to concept of punishment. When he misbehaved in the afternoon, I scolded him and told him to go stand in his naughty corner. To my surprise, he went to the corner quietly, without protest and stood there looking sad. Don't know if he is sorry for his naughtiness but he definitely knows he was being punished and he didn't dare cry though there were tears in his eyes. Can't resist taking pictures though I'm pretty sure that wasn't supposed to happen when one is disciplining a child.

Today is Gerald's 3rd birthday. He has officially crossed his terrible twos into his terrific threes. Unfortunately the poor dear is sick today and I had to take leave to bring him to the doctor. we were at the clinic from 9am till 12noon as the doctor came late and priority was given to babies who had appointments for immunisation.

Anyways, we brought Gerald out to Swenson's in the evening to "celebrate" his birthday but I think he is not very aware of this special day yet. He was allowed to eat only 1 french fry. He wasn't very interested in the food though.

Then we bought a small piece of cake and went home to sing his birthday song. He was excited about blowing off the candle. He was then treated to a packet of Ribena (his fav drink) after that and we ate up his cake as he wasn't interested in it.

Wedding dinner

Daddy and mummy decided to take me to Auntie Hai Nee's wedding dinner. I haven't been to any since one a long time ago when I couldn't sit still and my parents ended up not eating much of their dinner. That was more than a year ago and mummy persuaded daddy to try again.

I managed to sit still for almost 2 hours at the dinner, from before 8pm to about 10pm. Of course, mummy went armed with an arsenal of goodies (from toy cars to biscuits to ribena) to bribe me into sitting still. On the whole, my parents are very proud of me. This time, they manged to eat most of their dinner!

More advanced swimming

For the longest time, my swimming sessions consist of me walking around the shallow children's pool. I hated any floatation devices that mummy and daddy bought for me. (Mummy: We have bought all sort of models - the lifevest, the arm bands, the seated float, etc.)

Last week when mummy and daddy brought me swimming, they suddenly felt that I should try floating on my own. So daddy just went to the small store selling snacks and bought me a ring float. They took me over to the teaching pool and threw me in with the float. To their surprise, I didn't protest. Actually, I was hanging on for dear life as the water was a 1m deep. After a while, I got the hang of kicking and now I can move a little in the water with my float!

What I have been up to

Mummy has less time now to update my blog because of my baby brother but she will still try to upload pictures now and then for faithful readers of my blog.

I have gotten more used to my didi but I'm also finding new ways to fight for attention. I have now refused to eat my cod liver oil, multivites and any medication quietly. I am also putting up a fight everytime I brush my teeth and clean my face. In the past, I have done all these things nicely. Mummy says I'm still jealous.

I try to occupy the same space as my baby brother. Whenever he vacates his cot or bouncer, I'll try to climb in. Here I am pretending to be the baby.

My brother is 1 month old now and I have adjusted to having him in the house. However, I still like to make loud noises and shout "Baby!" whenever I'm around him. Mummy has scolded me a few times cos I tend to shout in his ear.

I also like to hang on to mummy whenever she appears. I want her to play with me more often instead of feeding Didi all the time. Here are some pictures of me jumping up and down a chair, trying to fight for my share of attention.

My brother Gareth arrived on 1st July at 5.40am. Mummy is busy taking care of him at the moment. I'm very interested in the new baby and keep trying to get as close as possible. But I'm having a cough and runny nose and my parents keep preventing me from putting my face near my brother's. That makes me a bit jealous and I have thrown some tantrums to try and attract some attention. Mummy has been trying to spend time with me too, so she will not be free to update my blog as often. Her free time is when BOTH of us is asleep, which isn't often. =P Mummy will set up a blog for Gareth as soon as she has more time but in the meantime, here's a photo of both of us for those who are curious how my brother looks like. He looks like ME!

The civil defence heritage centre

Mummy and daddy brought me to visit the Civil Defence Heritage Centre on Friday. It is located at the old central fire station and I got to see and climb onto lots of fire engines.

I also had an "accident" as this is the first time mummy tried to bring me out without my trusty Pampers and I was so engrossed in playing that by the time I said, "Toilet! Toilet!" my pants were already wet. =(

Mummy is trying to gradually bring me out without my Pampers as I will be starting pre-school next year and they don't allow the children to wear diapers at all.

I have recovered and daddy and mummy took me to West Coast Park to play. I have proven to be fearless and can climb up most obstacles. Mummy is considering whether to sign me up for gymnastics lessons, seeing how much I enjoy climbing up and down. I may become the next big thing in gymnastics. Hahaha...

I'm sick

I have been sick for the past week. I have a fever since Tuesday and it is still going up and down. Dr Lim says I have the flu. Lots of kids in church are sick too. I didn't go for cell group or service this week cos mummy wants me to rest. Here are some pics of me lazing around. I also don't have a good appetite and am basically surviving on milk.

Farm Visits

Last Sunday, Mummy took me to visit some farms as our Pastorate at church organised it. I had a lot of fun even though it was very, very hot on that day. I guess all the prayers about sunny weather and no rain worked too well.

First we went to Hay Dairies, a goat farm to see how goats were milked.

Naturally, I was fascinated with the goats. It wasn't the first time I saw goats but it was the first time I saw how they are milked.

The goats are milked in batches by machine. These goats are all imported from the USA and they are not the normal goats that end up being soup kambing. If you wanna eat them, the meat costs $55 per kg! Anyway, they are not eaten in Singapore.

We tried feeding the baby goats, called kids. Hey, isn't that what they call me too? I'm a human kid!

Because I'm so tiny, I keep getting blocked by all the adults around me. But I enjoyed myself and was not afraid of the goats. I even tried to pull hay from their mouths. Mummy said they will bite me cos I was snatching food from them.

We also went to visit a dragonfruit farm that was next to the goat farm. I never realise that dragonfruit grew of cactus-like plants. I think you don't either right?

I never liked dragonfruit because daddy always use them to bully me at NTUC. Here is me trying to get away from the fruit.

After lunch, we went to Qianhu Fish Farm so that I can try my hand at longkang fishing.

I tried very hard to catch some fishes but they swim very fast. In the end, Uncle David and Jonathon helped me to catch the fishes.

I thought it was easier to catch them from my tank. I got to bring home the tank full of fishes at the end of the day. Unfortunately, only 1 fish is still alive today.

Mummy got to do the fish spa where the doctor fishes get to eat the dead skin off her feet. It is supposed to be therapeutic.

On Friday, Mummy and Daddy brought me to OCC to play at a two-storey indoor playground. We had initially wanted to go swimming but the sudden rain in the afternoon put a stop to our plans. Not wanting to let me stay bored at home and wanting tospend quality time with me, they decided to take me to the marvellous playground. I really enjoyed myself climbing up and down.

The Bird Park

It is mummy's school holidays this week so we went to the bird park yesterday.

I enjoyed the monorail ride.

Daddy and Mummy brought me to the zoo last Sunday. This is my second trip to the zoo and I enjoyed myself more this time as I can recognise more animals.

The weather has turned warm again and daddy brought me to the swimming pool last friday. I had a great time. Now that I'm taller, I can stand and walk in the children's pool all by myself. The water used to reach my neck, but now it is at my chest. I can even climb out of the pool on my own and climb up the water slide. I loooooove swimming!

I haven't updated my blog for such a long time cos mummy has been really busy. And the reason why I took so long to wish everyone a happy CNY is becos mummy and daddy left me in Singapore and flew to Bangkok for a holiday. I was staying over at popo's house and still managed to collect quite a few ang baos without going out into the hot sun to "bai nian". Heehee, I guess that's because I'm so cute that everyone remembered me.

I was asleep when my parents came to pick me up.

Took a while to register that my parents are back.

When I saw they came back with ang baos and presents for me, I was very happy.

A big change

This is my first post for 2007 and I am experiencing a big change in my life. My maid who has been taking care of me since I was four months old decided to return to Indonesia at the end of her contract. I sent her off at the airport on Saturday and I was very sad. I cried when she went into the immigration area and I realised that I cannot follow her and that we were going home without her. I cried all the way home in the car and when I reached home, I went to our room to search for her. Then I cried some more and mummy and daddy spent a lot of time comforting me.

These past few days, I have been clinging to mummy whenever I see her and I don't like to have the new maid bathing or feeding me. Of course I refuse to sleep with her so daddy has to give up his place on the big bed for me. Hope I get used to the new maid soon.

Mummy and daddy survived the Praise retreat and my first overseas trip. I wasn't very well-behaved but that's because I was not familiar with the surroundings and I couldn't get my meals and naps like my normal routine. However, I enjoyed myself very much.

Still into shoes

Gerald still likes playing with shoes. He goes to the shoe cabinet or the mat to pick up shoes that we have just taken off and he will try them on. He has even tried my high heels. Maybe he can't wait to grow up. Mostly I think it is Gerald trying to imitate what the adults are doing.

My first concert

I attended my first concert - Baby Prom by the SSO on Friday. On the whole it was quite successful although I did not sit still throughout the concert. Luckily, it was a concert meant for children under 6 and they allowed us to run up and down the aisle. At the end of the concert, the conductor even allowed us to go up on the stage to be near the instruments as the orchestra played the last song. It was really fun. Mummy forgot to bring her camera and we only managed a few photos on her handphone.

My First Passport

Yippee! Mummy and Daddy are going to bring me on my first overseas trip. We are going for our church camp in Malaysia. But first, I need a passport and to apply for a passport, I need a passport photo. Those who know me know that I'm not very good at posing for photographs. Here are the attempts:

In my shoes

Gerald has recently taken a fancy to wearing my shoes. He will go to the shoe shelf and take my shoes, put them on, and run around the house with them.

In shoes too large for him.

This is another stage in his growing up, wanting to be like an adult. Hope he won't grow up too quickly and remain my baby for a little while longer.

Wonder if my shoes are more comfortable. He may be hinting that his shoes are getting too old or tight and it is time to buy new ones.

Today, near the end of class at GUG, when the other kids were washing their hands and I was busy trying to help clean up his mess after the craft session, he slipped through the open classroom door. I wasn't really concerned cos my maid is sitting outside along the narrow corridor and will usually catch him as he runs away. However, my maid must have been not paying attention as when I came out of the classroom a few minutes later, she didn't even know that Gerald has run out of the classroom. I asked her where Gerald was and she shrugged her shoulders!!! Sigh... good help is hard to find. Then, Li laoshi came and said, "Gerald is standing at the front doors wearing your shoes." I was shocked and amused. He actually went to the shoe racks where all the kids' and parents' shoes were, correctly picked out my shoes, put them on and went to stand at the front door, waiting to go home!

A Great Day

Mummy took child care leave on Friday just to take me out to play and to spend time bonding with me. When we woke up on Friday morning, it was really hazy (PSI 103) but we were determined to go and spend time as a family, haze or no haze. After all, there are only 2 precious days of child care leave that mummy can take in a year. Friday is daddy's weekly day off so we're not gonna waste a perfectly good day (except for the haze)

We bravely headed down to Sentosa and then to Vivocity where I had a great time.

I had sunscreen slathered all over me.

I built sandcastles.

I took a walk to the southernmost point of Asia Continent.

I had a ride on the beach train.

I played at the new playground in Vivocity.

What a great day!

Gerald's naughty

Yesterday night, Gerald "scolded" mummy. He was his usual mischevious self, trying to grab my pen and papers as I was marking. When I gathered my papers and pointed my finger at him, Gerald actually stopped and said "Naughty!" to me in a deep, angry voice. I was trying very hard to keep a straight face, as all parenting books and courses advised one to keep a straight, emotionless face when disciplining young children, but I ended up bursting into laughter. Hahaha... so cute, I actually got "scolded" by my son. How to discipline someone so cute?

Gerald had a Children's Day party in GUG today. This is his second party as he attended one in church yesterday. He had lots of food but he was particularly attracted to the biscuits, which are his favourite. All the children were busy getting a sugar-overload while all the parents were busy snapping pictures. On Sunday, 24th September, it was my grandparents' turn to celebrate my birthday. As I am the precious only grandson for both sets of grandparents, they are of cos happy to celebrate with me. Mummy and daddy invited mama, yeye, popo, gonggong and yiyi and uncle paul to our home for a home-cooked meal. My jiujiu was stuck in camp and couldn't come. But at least he bought me a present. Hehe...

My Birthday Party (Part 1)

Mummy and Daddy invited friends from the cell group to our house on Saturday, 23rd Sept for a pizza party to celebrate my second birthday. Most of the guests are adults but I had a few little friends like Reuben, Justyn and Wien Tze. We didn't really play together, just alongside one another. I was a good boy cos I shared my toys. The adults seemed to have had a good time. They partied late into the night. I couldn't last all the way and went to sleep at about 11pm. I only opened my presents the next day.

Palawan Beach

During the September holidays, mummy was busy marking but she still found the time to take me to Sentosa. We spent a wonderful morning playing on Palawan Beach. There is a nice fountain that shoots water at me at unexpected times, making me squeal and scream. I really wanted to play with the water but I was a bit scared too, so I hung on to mummy's hand the whole time. I also enjoyed playing with my sand toys. I'm not afraid of the sand and the sea anymore. Now I'll voluntarily go into the water and mummy and daddy must watch me carefully.

Swollen eye

I woke up with a swollen left eye today. Mummy brought me to the doctor and it cost her $62!!! Popo is definitely gonna faint and exclaim, "Aiyoh! So expensive. Go polyclinic can already." This will also reinforce yiyi's idea that it is too expensive to have kids. Daddy just said that my eye is more important and mummy said this means that I will get 1 or 2 fewer toys.

Counting

Gerald can now count up to 10... occasionally up to 12. He tends to skip 5 though... it'll be 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. But the number of times he is skipping 5 is reducing. Today at GUG, he counted the worms that Teacher Herli put out for the tods to touch. Gerald actually said, "1, 2, 3. 3 worms!" I was quite surprised.

He is already connecting numbers and words and unconciously picking up the grammar of English. He can form short little sentences like "Uncle running" or little phrases like "big truck" or "yellow taxi". The human brain is indeed amazing. We do not need to teach a young child language or grammar formally, it is naturally acquired through exposure. Isn't God's creation very good?

Now I think I need to expose Gerald to more Mandarin before he turns into a little banana. haha...

Sleeping on my own

Mummy and daddy had enough of me trying to take over their entire bed. They recently bought me a mattress and made me sleep in my own room where I have lots of space to toss and turn in my sleep without physically harming anyone.

I will toss and turn in my sleep. This is how you'll find me in the morning, mummy has been driven out of bed and I'm sleeping with half my body on daddy.

Now I sleep on a mattress on the floor. Weekdays I'll sleep with Imah (my maid) cos mummy needs her beauty sleep for work the next day. Weekends I'll still sleep with daddy and mummy.

My parents think I know how to bully them. When I sleep with Imah, I'll sleep through the night. When I sleep with my parents, I'll wake up in the middle of the night and climb onto the bed. I'll then proceed to kick daddy out of bed and snuggle next to mummy before I fall asleep again. Hee hee, aren't I a clever boy?

Aeroplanes

Last Friday, daddy and mummy brought me to Changi Airport to look at aeroplanes. I enjoyed looking at them very much but I enjoyed running around the airport even more.

Mummy thinks it is good that I'm learning a lot of words and I can draw associations from what I see in books to what I see and hear in real life. Whenever I hear a plane fly pass my home, I will run excitedly to the window and shout "airprane, airprane!!!".

Today popo tried something new with me. She did not allow me to wear my pampers and then took me to the toilet every hour to encourage me to pee. So far she has succeeded twice and I have peed in my pants thrice. So the score is currently Popo 2, Gerald 3!

Mummy has been really busy and has no time to blog. She is busy marking every weekend and I get shut in my room with Imah cos I keep trying to climb on her lap and snatch her red pen to 'help' her mark.

This is my very first cap that auntie pricilla bought for me when I was a few months old. I can't wear it anymore but thank you auntie pricilla!!!

This is me in my stroller which I am very quickly growing too big for. Now my butt is always stuck in the seat when mummy tries to get me out of the stroller.

Let me give you a course on how to put on make-up. I'm really good at it. While I'm painting, I not only manage to get paint on the paper, I got it on the floor, all over my body, and even my face.

Mummy and Daddy brought me to my first picnic and ballet performance. We went to Ballet Under The Stars at Fort Canning Park on Friday.

I enjoyed the picnic as we got to sit on the grass and I got to run around catching the bubbles mummy blew at me. I also watched some of the ballet performance but I fell asleep halfway through. We were not allowed to take pictures of the performance but here are some pictures of me during the picnic.

Walk at Labrador Park

Mummy and daddy brought me for a walk at Labrador Park on friday after mummy finished school. I love the freedom of running around without holding onto anyone's hand as mummy always insists I hold an adult's hand when I'm walking in areas with traffic nearby.

Today is my yiyi's wedding. Yiyi, or Auntie Rachel, is mummy's sister. The wedding is held in Wesley Methodist Church.

Everyone said I was very cute too. I followed yi yi and uncle Paul down the aisle after the wedding and everyone was smiling and waving at me. Guess I managed to steal some of the bride's limelight. Mummy and daddy took me to the beach last week. It was my second trip to the beach. On the first trip, I simply refused to have anything to do with the sand. I am braver this time and found out that the sand is not so scary after all. I had a lot of fun with my new sand toys and even walked in the surf with daddy.

I'm initially not too enthusiastic, cos I remember my previous trip.

I was persuaded to sit on the sand by the spanking new sand toys.

I started to think that it's a conspiracy to get me dirty after I got sand all over my fingers.

Think I'll settle for exploring the sand with my toes.

Daddy persuaded me to go for a walk with him.

It's quite fun to get my toes wet and feel the waves rushing at me.

The Power of Flashcards

Mummy is so impressed by my reading skills that she has bought 2 new sets of flashcards for me.

I can read!

Mummy's persistent flashing has paid off. I can now read the whole alphabet, although my pronunciation is not always accurate. For example, I insist on pronouncing 'm' as 'mum' as in food. Whenever an adult goes 'm is for..' I'll go 'mum mum'.

I can also read some basic words like 'duck', 'boy', 'girl', 'jam', 'vase' and 'zebra'. The last word is pronounced as 'biba' according to me. I think the whole world should talk like me, then I can understand everyone better.

Daddy and mummy are now worried that I am becoming a little potato or little banana, cos I only know English. Mummy is making daddy flash chinese words at me, cos she doesn't want me to be in the CLB class when I go to school. However, I have yet to recognise any of them. Check back here regularly and mummy will let you know when I say my first chinese word.

Camping... yet again...

Mummy went camping over the weekend again and I was left in Ah Ma's house. I missed mummy very much. Luckily daddy brought me to mummy's school to visit her every night. I loved running around the school with mummy but will be very sad when it was time to go. I will scream and cry as the car drove away with mummy waving goodbye. I'm glad mummy is home now and can spend Labour Day holiday with me. I'm now disturbing her so much that she can't get any work done. Heehee...

Itchy

I have fallen sick recently, that's why I haven't been blogging. I've got a cough and a runny nose. It's all daddy's fault. He brought a cough home and passed it to both mummy and me.

I had a fever last night and that combined with my cold has caused my ezcema to flare up. I was scratching non-stop last night and was very uncomfortable. I hardly got any sleep. Of cos mummy didn't get to sleep too. I was tossing and turning so much that daddy gave up fighting with me and slept on the floor.

Daddy and mummy took me to Dr Lim this morning and she gave me a stronger cream to apply. She said I looked a little yellowish too and asked mummy to cut down my intake of orange foods like carrots and papaya. She said I may have too much carotene in my system and even though carrots and papayas have lots of good vitamins, I cannot eat too much. I didn't know I can turn into a carrot from eating it, hehehe.

Since I always make a fuss while doing Art and Craft at GUG, mummy decided that I need to pratcise at home. She bought me a table and chair so I can practise sitting still, which is the first step to doing at art. Look at me sitting at my table. Mummy also bought me some colouring books and crayons to work on. Actually I have no problems with colouring cos it is not messy at all.

It is painting that I really don't like cos I tend to get paint all over myself. See, here I'm practising painting dressed only in a diaper cos Imah doesn't wanna wash all my paint-stained clothes.

I really don't like getting my hands dirty. Actually, it's more than just my hands.... :P

Camping again

Daddy is in reservist again and I have to go and stay in popo's house for the week. I think mummy and daddy will definitely miss my active presence.

Tree Top Walk

On Friday, mummy rushed home from work to spend time with the family and Daddy decided to take us to the Tree Top Walk for some exercise. I was very excited as it was my first time there.

Daddy brought us to the Venus Drive entrance as it was supposed to be the shorter way in. Before we reached the tree top walk, we had to trek about 2.4km into the "jungle". But it sure felt longer than 2.4km... we walked and walked for almost 40 minutes before we reached the ranger's station. Of course, as the king of the family, I was carried in turns by mummy, daddy and Imah.

There were lots and lots of trees around. We even saw monkeys! Mummy said I am a naughty monkey too as I was born in the year of the monkey.

After walking like forever, during which I walked less than 100 m, we finally reached the tree top walk.

The walk is actually a long bridge suspended above the tree tops.

I actually did some walking on the walk.

After the walk, look at all the steps we have to climb to get out of the place. Overall, it was a fun outing cos I was the only one who wasn't tired and sweating after the trek. Hehehe...

Mummy's friend, Aunty Shirley (Antanas' mummy), has shown her how to upload my videos onto this blog. They are now available on the right.

However mummy only has some old videos taken when I was quite young. And the videos are the silent movie type as mummy took them with her old digital camera which cannot capture sound and has a maximum screen time of 15 secs.

I'll be acting in my own block-busting motion picture soon so stay tuned!

First Bad Fall

I had my first bad fall this week. I think it was on Tuesday, when mummy has already gone to work in the morning. Daddy was having a shower and Imah was in the kitchen getting me a drink. I was pushing my toy car on the floor when I somehow slipped and fell and knocked my mouth (nobody saw this happen). I cut my lips on my teeth and was bleeding... sob sob. So I ended up with sexy, swollen lips and a painful ulcer for the rest of the week.

Cranky Day

Gerald was super cranky today. Nothing that we did could pacify him. He screamed and whined and kicked and threw his toys. He wanted to be carried and read to all the time and refused to take his naps. Hope he'll learn to talk soon so that he will be able to tell us what he wants.

Pointing

According to mummy, pointing and identifying object is a skill. And I surprised her with my new skill just the other night.

Mummy was reading a picture book to me when I suddenly pointed at a picture of a duck and said, "duck!" Mummy was so proud of me so I decided to display my skill again. When mummy flipped the page, I pointed to a car and said, "car!"

So now I can officially 'read'. I can identify many objects now and I will say their names when I see their pictures. These include baby, car, boat, apple, spider, clock and many others.

First trip to the beach

We brought Gerald to the beach for the very first time today. Unfortunately, he didn't like it at all. He is a very clean boy and he couldn't stand the feeling of gritty sand underneath his feet or butt. He ended up crying and trying to climb on somebody for the whole time we were at the beach.

The sand is so dirty and prickly... I don't like this place!!!

Is there a way to get off this beach? I don't want to touch the sand.

I think I'll just sit on Daddy and try to avoid the sand. The sand castles look interesting though...

Since the time when we posted Gerald's first words, he has learnt to say a few more. He can now say:

sit
happy
clock
sock
shoe
apple (pronounced "appu")
bubble

He is also getting good at imitation. He can say either "A", "B" or "C" when I tell him ABC; but not all 3 letters together.

He can imitate snoring too. And coughing. He also knows how to pretend to cough and sneeze.

He also likes to sing the "cockroach song" by Jocie Guo Mei Mei... just the chorus bit that goes:
Mai-ya-hee
Mai-ya-o
Mai-ya-ho
Mai-ya-haha

Whenever Gerald hears this song, he will be going "o-o" and "ha-ha" over and over, non-stop. Isn't he cute?
