Shoe hog

In the west, there was a tradition that parents would have their child's first pairs of shoes bronzed and framed. These days, shoes are affordable enough and available in such a variety of cute styles that they are no longer treated like heirlooms. However, we still thought it would be a good idea to document and keep a record of Gerald's shoes.

These are the shoes he has owned in his 14 months. These are not counting the numerous booties he wore when he was tiny. Now I shall introduce each pair.

1. Soft yellow booties

These were his "going out" booties from about 5 mths onwards. Soft and warm for his little toes. He wore them everywhere he went and they kept him snug. . .

2. Little bear shoes

These were bought at Mothercare because mummy couldn't resist such cute furry shoes. Gerald looked simply adorable wearing them, even though he didn't need another pair of shoes at 6 months.

3. Tigger Booties

These were bought from Kiddy Palace as Gerald outgrew his old booties. We couldn't find Winnie the Pooh (which some said Gerald looked like) but Tigger served just as well cos Gerald was very bouncy from 6 to 12 months.

4. White track soft shoes

These were the first pair of "track shoes" owned by Gerald. They were made of soft leather to ensure that his little growing feet are not restricted and well-ventilated.

5. White Winnie Shoes

These were bought when Gerald started toddling around. Unfortunately he only wore these a few times before he wore a hole in one of them during the looooong walk at the Botanic Gardens.

6. His first Clarks

These were bought immediately after he spoilt the previous pair. We went straight to Centrepoint from Botanic Gardens and bought him his first pair of branded (aka. expensive) shoes.
