Year of the Dog

Today is the 1st day of CNY. I'm so excited cos I know I am going to get lots of ang baos this year. I went to visit mahmah and yehyeh, daddy's uncle, popo and gonggong and got to see the rest of the relatives along the way. Take a look at my exciting day and the people I visited.

A picture with mummy. I'm clapping because I'm so excited to be wearing my new Polo Ralph shirt and Gap trousers.

Eating New Year goodies... actually, all Mummy lets me eat are egg rolls. I'm eating my own biscuit here.

This is my cousin.

While all the adults had beer and coke, I got to drink milk. People always bully babies.

This is my popo.

Aunty Rachel and Uncle Paul.

CNY Eve

Today is the eve of Chinese New Year and it's also mummy's birthday. Mummy is a bit put off that everyone is busy celebrating CNY eve and not her birthday, kekeke...

This is going to be my 2nd CNY. I heard from mummy that I got quite a lot of ang baos last year but I didn't know what they were. This year I hope I get a lot too. Even though I can't count yet, I'll ask mummy to help me count and save my ang bao money for my future education.

Meanwhile, I've been quite busy too. Take a look.

I'm practising how to "bai nian" - gong xi, gong xi.

Is my smile charming enough to make all the aunties and uncles put more in my ang boas?

I'm not drinking the soft drinks. I'm "helping" Imah put them in the fridge.

Our Little Star

I emailed Gerald's photo to some baby website some time ago. I can't even remember when. Then Luke called me today and asked me if I sent Gerald's photo in. His friend had smsed him about it. I checked when I was free and discovered that it got published! Check it out here. Hee hee... It is the first time his photo is published anywhere even though I have sent in some to magazines before. Every month when I get my subscribed magazine, I will open the baby showcase page and wonder to myself why they picked all those babies when my Gerald is obviously cuter (opinion of biased mother).

Now that he is published, he is a star!!! Anyway, he is already the biggest star in our lives.

Gerald, we love you!!!

Nocturnal Adventures

Gerald fell down from our bed for the 3rd time yesterday. It was early in the morning, while it was still dark. I was already up and getting ready for school and Luke had just gotten out of bed. Gerald was still sleeping in the middle of the bed when Luke walked into the wardrobe. Barely 30 seconds later, there was a soft thud followed by screaming and crying. Gerald must have sensed us getting up and was rolling around, looking for us with his eyes closed. Luckily, he landed on a cushion that had fallen onto the floor and did not knock his head.

Last night, he woke up at 3am and climbed off the bed, walked to his changing table and took out a bottle of baby oil to play with. All in the dark!!! We put him back into bed but he just refused to sleep. He was playing and standing up so Luke put him into his cot. Of course he screamed and complained for some time. Finally, I guessed he might be hungry and made him a bottle of milk. He drank hungrily and finally went back to sleep around 4.30am.

Yawn!!! I need more sleep.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...........

Chinatown

Mummy and Daddy brought me to Chinatown yesterday to "ban nian huo". Wow!!! There was so many people there. It was so crowded and I was in my stroller, staring at legs going past me. I insited on being carried after a while cos it was no fun looking at people's legs and breathing in hot carbon dioxide sinking to the floor. I need oxygen!

Daddy flashing the V-sign for surviving the human crush! Imah is carrying me in a sling as I refused to sit in my stroller.

With Mummy and Imah. I'm looking everywhere but at the camera... as usual!

Daddy is happy he bought his curly bamboo. I'm looking at the laser light display.

Mummy is into everything red for the Chinese New Year!

It's the year of the dog.

Walking!!!

Gerald can officially walk! After toddling and stumbling around for the longest time, he finally discovered that walking around is fun and not that scary. Even though he could walk for short distances for some time already, he used to refuse to walk independently outside our home. He will sit down the moment we let go of his hand.

The past week or so, he has been walking everywhere. Now it is harder than ever to keep our eyes on him as he can wander off very quickly in shopping centres. He is still trying to keep his balance by holding his hands up in front when he is walking. As a result, he looks like a little wobbly mummy.

Let us put it on record that he walked at 15 months.

And Jack came tumbling down.

I fell out of bed last night! I woke up in the middle of the night and insisted on joining mummy and daddy on the big bed. Why should they get to sleep on the big bed when I am stuck in my tiny cot? However I was tossing and turning in between daddy and mummy. So Daddy went and put me on the outside where I can get the wind from the fan while he slept in between me and mummy.

Everyone was sound asleep when there was a thud followed by a ear-shattering cry. I tossed and turned so much that I fell off the bed! I was so shocked that I just closed my eyes and cried. I cried and cried..... and then I fell asleep again without even opening my eyes to see what had happened. As long as I can hear mummy's voice telling me that everything is ok, I feel safe and secure and I went straight back to dreamland.

Next time, I'll make sure I sleep in between daddy and mummy. =)
